My interest in opting for the job is partly informed by my perceived qualification and previous experience. I hold honors and master’s degrees in economics with good track records in economics theory and quantitative analyses right from my secondary school days. As a manifestation of my expertise, besides scoring good grades in my O-Levels, I had a second-class upper-division grade in my (honors) first degree in economics. At the master (postgraduate) level, I graduated the third-best student from the department of economics, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). I earned a CGPA of 3.67/4.0 in the research component of my master program. In the coursework-component, I obtained a CGPA of 3.5/4.0. Although I am not an English native speaker, I speak fluent and good English. This is partly because, besides being the official language in my country, it has been the medium of instruction throughout my twenty-one years of academic history. I have teaching experience at the university level with undergraduate students in Malaysia (South-East Asian country). Based on my competence, I have worked as a tutor at the Student Learning Enhancement Unit in IIUM, where I taught Econometrics to undergraduate student for about one year. Moreover, I also had a six-month experience of teaching Microeconomics as a graduate teaching assistant at the department of economics in IIUM. All these acquaint me with the necessary teaching skills. |
