Tell us more about you like: I hold a Bachelor of Honors Degree in Accounting from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. I was teaching/lecturing Accounting at HELP University for past 10 years for both Edexcel International London Examination and Cambridge International Examination students. Just left the job in June 2016 for a short break.
My position gives me the opportunity to positively mold the character of my students and build synergistic relationship with my peers. Over the many years of teaching at HELP, I have gained a wealth of teaching experiences including curriculum development, instructional strategies, teaching and delivery methods; which I presume will be of great value to be shared with younger students at HELP International School.
Being a lecturer for 10 years, I learned and applied a broad range of teaching strategies. For example, I constructed my lesson plans by first consulting the Cambridge Examination and Edexcel Standards for clear objectives and learning goals. Every student’s experience was enriched by differentiating lessons for learning styles, gifted/talented abilities, as well as cultural and socio-economic needs. I incorporated parent volunteers into classroom activities whenever possible and integrated technology to enhance learning experience. I implemented a variety of personalized assessments to ensure internalization of knowledge.
Above all, I encouraged students to assume a very active responsibility for their own learning. My students enthusiastically made strategic choices, reflected on their learning processes, collaborated often, and submitted constant input. Every one of my students knew what we were learning, why we were learning it, and how it applied to the world beyond the classroom.
My experiences as a lecturer have enhanced my success as an educator. My Mandarian speaking ability and teaching in diversified culture have proven to be an asset both in the classroom and on campus. I have a deeper understanding of what diversity means through hands on teaching and have been able to build productive and valuable relationships with diverse students and peers.
