I worked as a home tutor from 1986 to 1992. I had to discontinue for the next 11 years because of going into special full-time volunteer work, specializing in teaching on a 1-to-1 basis as well as large audiences at weekly meetings and annual seminars. A change of personal circumstances brought a return to working secularly once more. English is my first language and I had my primary and secondary education in Malay. For the past 7 years, I have been doing regular full-time volunteer work among the Malay-speaking people of Sabah. During this time, I have had to use Malay more often, which includes translating from English to Malay as well as serving on many occasions as a English-Malay/Malay-English interpreter
